ARTIST DAVINA ZAGURAY

The Land of Lost Toys is such a fascinating series. The capturing of a toy that was once so special to a child and now discarded. Sort of like loosing the innocence of our youth. Davina makes New York her home and continues to reinvent the way we look at things. Find her at Davina Zaguray

NUTS ABOUT SQUIRRELS.

This is the second item I have featured from Rose and Radish, but no less worthy than the first. Created by Pakhuis Oost from the Netherlands, this Squirrel coathanger is a hilarious pop of color for the an entry, mudroom, or bathroom. A friend emailed me that the same collection was featured in Elle.I may be on to something to here!

WHO CUT THE CHEESE?

Made from Acacia wood, known for its density and durability, this cutting board can last a lifetime. The laser-cut moon man is placed differently on each board, making them all unique. There are other designs available but this one is brilliant. Elsewares is in my top ten favorite websites. Ryan Deussing and Audrey Aponte scour the globe for unique and quality pieces offered by entrepreneurs and manufacturers that support worker's rights. Bon appetite!

THIS CANDLE IS THE BOMB.

I know, I know...the title is ridiculous but so is this website. Not only that, but it is two-for Tuesdays. I figure if I feature two things from Rose and Radish, why not feature two things from Elsewares.

CAVO TAGOO

Design is everywhere. A good friend of mine recently stayed at Cavo Tagoo and summed up her experience as "Simply beautiful...beautiful people, beautiful location, beautiful everything". Nestled in a cliffside overlooking the Aegean, Cavo Tagoo is only 10 minutes outside of Mykonos. Guests provide the color in an otherwise stark white palate. Bring some green because this hotel comes with a price. Once you see their accommodations, I'm sure that you will agree it's worth every penny.

HAND-PAINTED PAPER

A colleague introduced me to Rose and Radish, one of her favorite stores in San Francisco. I enjoyed the site so much and encourage you to stop by their location in the Bay area. Summed up in their own words, "Rose and Radish reflects their signature design aesthetic and discerning taste...by showing a fresh context (and some beautiful flowers) in a world too full of common things."
Manufactured by Nama Rococo; there is nothing common about this beautiful hand painted wallpaper by Karen Combs.

LESS IS MORE

Mies van der Rohe said it best. Rocio received her Masters of Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Design with a major in Architecture from UC Berkeley. Rocio Romero is committed to simplicity in design. You may have seen some press in the New York Times, Saint Louis Post Dispatch or...perhaps on the cover of DWELL. Her website is full of information so be sure to check it out for more details. Rocio Romero Homes

AFFORDABLE ART

Jen Beckman has made it a mission to provide affordable art for the masses. The Faceted Couroucou, by Carrie Marill is an archival pigment print that really caught my eye. Add this site to your favorites so that you can check back weekly for the most recent limited editions. Pieces go quickly so don't hesitate if you see something. These make great gifts. 20x200

STUMPED ON WHAT TO DO FOR A SIDE TABLE?

Keep an eye on the women of Egg Collective. Stephanie, Crystal, Hillary, and Julie create beautiful, functional designs with an edge. I am intrigued by their stumped series...part of the curiosity of verbs project. Green design has has never been more chic. Egg Collective

TOO COOL TO HIDE

Characteristically, goats are extremely intelligent and curious, just like this great bench from Jayson Home & Garden in Chicago. The small-scale bench, covered in goat hide, is a smart and funky addition to any interior.

BRAVE, TRUTHFUL AND UNSELFISH

Three attributes we should all strive to follow! The story of Pinocchio was first written over 100 years ago; but became mainstream by Walt Disney in 1940. As a collector of vintage and reproduction toys, I am drawn to these wooden replicas available through one of my favorite boutiques Canoe in Portland.
